Webinar will be as interactive as possible and will accommodate a maximum of 10 participants via ZOOM. There will be assignments between modules so participants should complete the course sequentially.
Each participant must complete all seven modules* to be eligible to graduate. All assignments must also be completed and submitted by deadline.
The structure facilitates both iOS and Android by splitting the editing process into two strands. FiLMiC Pro has both an iOS and Android version*
*(though only high end Android devices can run the app properly.)

 

Webinar Module 1 Photography + Audio

Runtime 2 hours

Learning Outcomes:

-Understand the full functionality of the camera App
-Know how to control focus and exposure manually
-Understand the principles of composition
-Know advanced functionality like time-lapse, burst mode, slow motion,

stop-frame animation.

-Know how to export bursts and live photos as GIFs/Videos

-Ability to identify mics for different audio situations
-Know how to capture broadcast quality audio using voice record pro
-Be familiar with audio editing applications on the device
-Know how to combine photographs and audio into a multi-media timeline.

-Know how to export that timeline and share it online.
-Overview of other Apps to share content and reversion for social

Will involve practical exercise (upload images via Dropbox link) and live feedback and review.

Webinar Module 2 Filmic Pro

Runtime 2 hours Learning Outcomes:

-Understand different video formats and sizes, bit rates and frame rates
-Understand the differences between filming with native camera and a pro camera app

-Be competent in the use of a Pro Camera Application like FiLMiC Pro
-Know the required setting for broadcast
-Know how to capture audio and set a correct level with extrernal mics
-Know how to use Focus Peaking and Zebra for correct exposure and focus

-Understand White balance and how to manage the controls in the App
-Know how to switch between basic/intermediate and advanced full manual modes

-Understand the two workflows in Flimic (On Device editing / Off device editing)

Will involve practical exercise (upload images via Dropbox link) and live feedback and review.

Webinar Module 3 Filming Sequences

Runtime 2 hours Learning Outcomes:

-Broad understanding of how mobile is being used by other broadcasters

-Understand how many composition principles from course 1 carry over to video

-Understand the need for picture led filming and editing
-Understand the 5 shot sequence filming concept

In this module we will watch several stories that demonstrate some of

the strengths and weaknesses of mobile filming.

This will then result in a practical exercise which can be conducted in isolation

at home but which will explore the 5 shot principle.

Webinar Module 4A Introduction to basics of editing on device LUMAFUSION (iOS)

Building on the previous module the participants will learn to…

-Create a new project to TX standards
-Add sequence clips to timeline
-Understand the 4 key universal gestures for editing on device

-Know how to access fine tuning editing tools
-Understand the principles of pacing and edits points
-Know how to export their basic edit project in the best quality

Webinar Module 7 Livestreaming – Social and Broadcast

Runtime 2 hours

In this module we will explore the process of going live via Smartphone both

on social platforms like Facebook Live, Periscope, YouTube Live and Instagram TV and also Zoom.

We will also explore the process and practicalities of live streaming via professional solutions like Luci Live,

TieLine ReportIT for radio and TVU/Dejero/LiveU etc for pro video.
