The key reasons why businesses should embrace sustainability will be the focus of a free webinar from Gréasán ne Meán Skillnet on Monday 13 May 2024.

Among the many challenges posed by climate change is how businesses can reduce their carbon footprint, contribute to a more stable environmental future, and keep up with consumer shifts as the public becomes more environmentally conscious.

This course will provide an introduction to the key ideas and practices businesses need in order to meet the most pressing challenge of our time.

The course is split into two parts, with the first presenting the case for why businesses need to adopt sustainability practices, and the benefits such practices bring to both the environment and the business itself.

Participants will learn about the different definitions of sustainability and the ESG (environmental, social and governance) metrics which assess a company's ability to effectively manage its environmental and social impacts.

Other topics include ‘Pressure from Stakeholders’, the Irish, European, and Global policy landscape; and the relevant governing bodies, such as Coimisiún na Meán.

Part two will focus on putting theory and knowledge into practice. Participants will learn the importance of understanding sustainability and analysing the needs of stakeholders when creating a sustainability strategy.

The webinar is part of a series of events from Skillnet to mark the EU Year of Skills which seeks to promote reskilling and upskilling in the workforce and to boost the competitiveness of European companies, particularly SMEs.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 9 May 2024 at 5pm To apply email maria@greasannamean.ie.
